The cards

Where I came from, mere cut-out sheets of paper put you on a pedestal. The shiny ones gave me extra powers, which I desired, and getting them was no easy task. I would open each booster pack in hopes of getting something good, but nine times out of 10, it wouldn't happen. But when it did happen, it would lead to me formulating plans on how to use it. The same thrill is found when you are playing a game and you don't know what your opponent will play. The fact that different Pokémon had different abilities always had me on the edge. Whenever my parents agreed to buy me the cards, I'd go through a process of elimination to find which box to get and to get the right one. The main Pokémon from the box would give a tough fight to my opponents, and that was exactly what I wanted. This was my way of asserting dominance against the other competition.
